Dolly Magic-Turning a Drinking Straw Into a Dressing Straw

I am new to the world of tiny ball joint dolls and I wanted to make cute, well fitted clothing for my new gal Tika, but geez, getting those arms and legs through miniscule sleeves and pant legs was a real job! (Like trying to dress a wet noodle!) I was worried I might damage the doll or the little clothes I had put so much time into making. Then one day it hit me, drinking straws! I found just the right sized straws to easily slip her tiny little arm into (Without getting it stuck!) Then I kept an eye out for a slightly bigger straw for Tika's legs. Wow, what a time saver this had been! and the great thing is the straws are so long, you can cut them to shorter lengths and have enough to help you dress both arms/legs at the same time. So, without further ado, here is a little tutorial along with the size straws to keep an eye out for.

Best Wishes and Enjoy!

A New Outfit

Summer is a busy season and I am afraid I have let my posting get away from me. There have been so many surprises this week, I worked up a new Tika sized outfit, she loves hats and I am sure this outfit will become one of her favorites. The biggest, best surprise of all, however, came delivered by the UPS man, but that story deserves a post all it's own, so stay tuned!

Party Dress and Capelet

This is my friend Marilyn's doll, she is dressed up in the little party dress and capelet I made for her.  Marilyn is the one who started me down this slippery slope into the world of little collectable dolls. Though it didn't take much arm twisting, as you know I love knitting tiny clothes and making small things. And boy have been making all kinds of tiny things I am excited to share with you, stay tuned!

A Wee Chandelier

I had the idea to make a tiny crystal chandelier for Tika's flat. I love wire work and this project was especially fun. So much fun in fact that I didn't stop there, I made two chandeliers and a double candlestick lamp resembling stylized daffodils. Things are coming together in this tiny little space, we have a new table and chairs and I have made some pretty rugs too. The table and chairs were nearly a perfect fit. The chairs were made so that the seat was flush with the underside of the table. I fixed that by shortening them a touch, now they are the perfect size! Did you notice the little bedside table made out of match books? Little by little it's coming right along and I'm having so much fun!

Have a great week, blessings friends

Tika's Tiny Sofa

My little doll Tika (aka Amelia Thimble) is decorating her new flat. After seeing the dismal looking and very expensive furniture available out there, I decided to try my hand at making my own. Tika is so tiny, only 4 inches tall, by making the sofa myself, I was able to make it just the right size! I am happy with how it turned out, but I can see plenty of room for improvement, what do you think?
